Remembering Karen

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we share the news that our founder, Karen Tirebuck, has passed away. Karen was a force of nature, a pillar of the community and a wonderful leader, of whom many will have fond memories. Her enthusiasm, determination and passion for her business shone through in her work, filtering through to everyone who worked for or with her over the years.

Karen started Tirebuck Recruitment in 2000 providing bespoke recruitment services to Solihull and the West Midlands. In her long-standing career, she was awarded ‘Solihull Business Women of the Year’ in 2008 and ‘Solihull Times Best Business Award’ in 2007. Karen launched her recruitment career in 1983 and by 1999, starting her own recruitment company was at the forefront of her mind – in her own words, “I was prepared to risk failure over the thought of never trying. I didn’t want to live a life of regret.”

Karen was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s dementia in her mid-50’s, which eventually led her to leave her position of Managing Director. However, in 2015, her daughter Emily Tirebuck took over the reigns and continues to provide high quality, bespoke recruitment services to the local area. Karen’s passion for recruitment and her business is still very much present in the way the business is operated and Emily is committed to ensuring her legacy continues.

Karen’s funeral was held on Tuesday 14th March and had over 150 people in attendance.
