Job Title: Accounts Assistant
Contract: Permanent, full-time
Hours: 35 hour week, Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm (1-hour lunch break)
Location: Tyseley, Birmingham (office-based)
Salary: Circa £25,000 per annum, plus bonus

We’re working with a well-established and respected Birmingham-based company to recruit an Accounts Assistant to join their busy finance team. This is a key role that offers variety and responsibility across purchase ledger, sales ledger, reconciliations, and financial reporting.

You’ll be central to ensuring accurate processing of invoices, payments, and reconciliations while also assisting with month-end and year-end reporting. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys ownership of tasks, working collaboratively, and contributing to the smooth running of the finance function.

Key responsibilities:

  • Coding and posting purchase invoices, reconciling supplier statements, and processing payments
  • Raising and posting sales invoices, issuing customer statements, and credit control activities
  • Posting customer receipts and supplier payments to Sage
  • Completing weekly and monthly bank reconciliations
  • Reviewing and coding company credit card expenditure
  • Assisting with month-end journals, reconciliations, and financial reports
  • Supporting with year-end audit preparation and ad hoc finance duties

What we’re looking for:

  • AAT Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification as a minimum
  • Previous experience using Sage software
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Confident in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • A proactive and reliable team player with good communication skills
