Karen Tirebuck, Managing Director of Tirebuck 'career solutions' Ltd, has been awarded the prestigious title of Solihull Business Woman of the Year 2005/6 by the awarding body Soroptimist International.

The ceremony took place at the Moat House Hotel in Solihull and was sponsored by many large local businesses such as John Lewis, Sydney Mitchell, Barclays Bank and the Solihull Times.

There were a large number of applications from the Solihull community but Karen was short listed to become one of four finalists who then attended an interview with a panel of judges.  Three finalists were then selected to attend the awards ceremony where the results were announced in reverse order.  Karen Tirebuck was a clear winner and was delighted to receive the award and prize money which was presented by Shadow Secretary of State for Local Government Affairs and Communities, Caroline Spelman MP.

This is the first time that Karen has been recognised for an award since Tirebuck career solutions Ltd set up in 2000.

Karen felt that the selection process made her think about her progress over the last five years and had this to say, "I am over the moon about this award!  There are many awards for best business, but not many who recognise the business women we have in our local community.  Soroptimist International has highlighted this and I am grateful to them and the sponsors for making this event possible.  I hope that I can share my experiences with others in the future".
