What makes your employees happy?

Keeping employees happy is key to staff retention.

Forget the big pay rises and financial rewards – here are some other ways you can keep your employees smiling and working hard.

Offer room for growth

Nobody wants to be stuck in a dead end job. Offer people the chance to progress, learn new skills and take on more responsibilities to keep them motivated.

Show your appreciation

You can offer small bonuses or simply buy the bacon butties on a Friday morning. Any behaviour that shows you value your team is good.

Give them Facebook breaks

Giving employees the freedom to check social media sites has been shown to improve their moods. Additionally, having mini-breaks is known for improving overall productivity.

Let employees work autonomously

People are more likely to feel committed to their role and your company if they willingly invest their own energy. If you’re a bit of a micromanager this may be tough for you, but give it a try.

Be flexible

Let people work from home, start late or leave earlier. You won’t lose many, if any, man hours, but your employees will feel that they have a better work/life balance.
Of course, if you have the budget offer big pay rises and benefits, as well! Everybody likes those. But don’t forget
